New Brunswick · Provincial Park
Overview
Mount Carleton Provincial Park protects the high country of northern New Brunswick, rising to the highest ground in the province. It is a park of lakes, forest, and summit trails — the inland, mountain side of a province better known for its Fundy coast.
Trails
Parks New Brunswick lists 11 named trails in this park, from lakeside walks to summit routes. Trail difficulty here is about terrain, not fitness — rocky, rooty climbs are normal in the high country.
Camping
Camping is offered in the park in season. Site types, season dates, and current fees are listed on the official Parks New Brunswick page for this park (see Data and sources).
Alerts
Weather changes fast on high ground. Check official park advisories before you travel, and check fire restrictions before lighting any campfire.
Indigenous & Culture
This park stands on lands subject to the Peace and Friendship Treaties between the Crown and the Wolastoqey, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati peoples — treaties of peace and friendship that did not surrender land.
